GOOD NEWS FOLKS! After watching the tribute to George on NBC, I have decided to resume working on my book, which I may put out in E-Book format if not published. I started on it 10 years ago but got busy and now will return to writng. I recieved hundreds of emails back then of people interested in a purchase copy. Email me just to let me know if this is something you would be interested in. Thanks

Welcome to "So You Like George Strait" website's 15th year on-line! We hope you enjoy the ever slowly growing content of Ace in the Hole & George "The Early Years". And so the story goes....................

I first met George about the time a lot of Strait fans were probably just starting school. My brother (Mike Daily) has been the steel guitar player since 1975( I'm not sure of the actual date, you would have to ask him). Actually he was in the band already before George joined. That's almost 33 years now! I must be getting old.

Help an Old Friend make the World cleaner and greener!

It was 1976, the year I graduated high school when the Ace in the Hole band went to Doggetts recording studio on Studemont in Houston to record "I Just Can't Go on Dying" written by George), and The b side "Honky Tonk Downstairs" (written by Dallas Frazier) and Produced by my father Don Daily.   The studio was about 3 blocks from my fathers and uncles record distributorship on 11th street in the Heights of Houston Texas where I worked for 17 years.
The company was founded by My grandfather "Pappy Daily" who was the founder of George Jones and and was one of the great ears of country music in the early years of Hank Williams Sr. , Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and all the great country purist. The studio was also several blocks from a old club that Elvis played one of his pre-famed shows.

For the history of George Strait's early years you can go to my document page, which will be continued in the book I am writing.

I now have the 1973 Memorial Park concert available on DVD. If you are interested obtaining a copy email me. It sells for $30.00 plus shipping. The music we had dubbed on to the video did not convert over to the DVD, so it does not have any sound. Rare footage regardless.
